A Star Trek world

In Star Trek, there is one earth, peace, one government, teleporters to get you from place to place, endless food from replicators, and most importantly, no money - people do they jobs they do because they want to. Many flaws of course, but is this a partial vision of the type of world we might want? I've been saying something like this for a long time, using it as a shorthand, and calling it the Star Trek world. Just a way of thinking about some important ideas for now and the future.
