Femme Fierce street art for International Women's Day.

A day for the majority gender. After spending some time on Friday and Saturday at the Women of the World Festival at the Southbank Centre, this evening I went by to catch a very different celebration of women, at the Femme Fierce takeover by graffiti writers and street artists who happen to be women, of the Leake Street tunnel near my new home in Southwark. Some excellent art and skills on display.

Good use for once of the ubiquitous streetart stickers 'Hello my name is'.

Actually made up of tiny stencils of tiger faces.

Arty but well done.

This was excellent. You can feel the fear. Not sure of the artist, maybe Noir?

Great to see the work of so many artists who are women. Female, ladies, womyn, possessors of two Xs (chromosomally speaking), human beings who identify as women. Especially as graffiti and streetart can often be a bit of a sausagefest. A great end to International Women's Day, and all in aid of the good work of Plan and the Because I Am A Girl campaign. Loads more photos to come, and plenty more here.
